Sleet Saturday Hail Stone Sunday

Saturday was a sleet out as the storm from the night before covered the course canceling play.

Sunday was a blustery day with peeks of sun and hail stones on the back nine.  It is safe to say weather has not been Pot Gamer's friend so far this season.  Despite the weather, 16 players showed up.  Pudge, Sandy, Otis, Skooger, Brad-Brian, Rama and Mad Dog were making their first weekend appearance of 2013.  Mad Dog was able to divide 16 by 4 and created four teams.

First off was the powerhouse team of Pudge, Skrocki, TJ and Blue Tees.  Followed by Bear, Tractorman, Forty and House. Captain Sandy, Otis, Little Bow Pete and Rama were next with the slow poke team of Mad Dog, Brad-Brian, Birdie and Skooger bringing up the rear.  Sandy lead his team to a very strong +5 three best balls on the front nine, but Pudge's team blitzed the back nine with a +3 to also take the overall with a +10.  Their overall total was better than other teams nine hole score.

The crazy day continued with 10 players (Mad Dog, Rama, Otis, Blue Tees, Tractorman, Pudge, Forty, TJ, Skrocki 2 and Sandy 2) getting 12 skins.  A total of 14 holes were birdied but two were cut.  Each skin was worth a whopping $6.

Low scores of the day Pudge 73, Sandy 74, Mad Dog 77 and Otis 79.  Mad Dog and Bear resumed their dollar a hole match and Mad Dog clipped Bear for $4.  So YTD Mad Dog up $4.

No sign of Commish.  If you spot him please call 1-800-Big-Weenie to give his location.

Notes from 2013 Masters:

My 10th year with Patron Badges.

The thrill of walking into the "hallowed grounds" of Augusta National never gets old.  The building which houses The Golf Channel and ESPN Coverage at the end of the range is better than most residences.

Beers are still at $3.00 and sandwiches between $1.50 to $3.00 wrapped in green paper. Favorite chicken biscuit.

The 10th is steep enough to ski on.  The low point of the course is the 11th green.  To walk from the low point back to the club house takes almost an hour with crowds , cross walks etc.  It is a good workout, when you are fat and out of shape.

Favorite viewing spot is behind the 7th tee box where most Patrons don't go.  The knoll behind 7th green is great because you can watch 7th green, 3rd tee, 2nd green and 8th fairway.  Plus beer and food and bathroom short distance away.  We placed our chairs behind 12th tee this year and along the fairway on 13.

With orders from fellow Pot Gamers my tab at the Pro Shop hit a new high.  Somehow I managed to get it all in my suitcase and backpack.

Best part of going is getting it to go is doing it with my sons and/or wife.

If it's possible the course is better in person than it is on tv.

Opening Day Weekend

If not for Opening Day, there would have been no Pot Gamers playing, but it was so 10 crazies came out in 28 degree weather which felt like 18 degrees with the howling wind.  They all froze and their scores reflected it.  There were two teams of 5 playing three Best Balls.

Bear's team included Forty, Joey M, Billy D and Chimney.  Captain Skrocki had Dougie, Tractorman, Birdie and Fireman.

Both teams tied the front with +9, Then Skrocki's team shot another +9, while Bear's team soared to a +17 on the back.  There were 9 skins by 8 players worth $5 a piece (Forty 2, Bear, Billy D, Skrocki, Fireman,  Joey M, Tractorman and Dougie.

Low scores of the day Dougie 79, Tractorman 80, Forty 84.  Everyone broke 100 but a few came close with scores well into the 90s.

Sunday

With the temperature a balmy 35 degrees,  under sunny skies, 12 Pot Gamers in three teams of 4 (Mad Dog took minutes to figure our how many teams) played 2 Best Balls.

About half way through the front nine a front came through which had rain, sleet and snow and lots of wind.  It was as bad as Saturday's weather.

First to tee off was Captain Tractorman's team of Forty, Fireman and Deacon (great to see out playing).  Next came Captain Brad-Brian's team of TJ, Billy D and Blue Tees.  Last but not least was Bear's team of Little Bow Pete, Birdie and House (who begged to play when B Boys never showed).

Lead by the nervous House and the Lee Trevino (low Ball Hitter) of the Pot Game Birdie, Bear's team shot +2 on the front to take a 4 shot lead for overall over Brad-Brian's team (+6).  But Brad-Brian's team roared back on to take the back with +3 to Bear's team +6, which meant Bear's team took 2 sides and Brad-Brian's team 1.  If you notice Tractorman's team was never mentioned..therefore they a $20 beer for their trouble.

There were 5 skins by 2 Pot Gamers Brad-Brian 3, House 2.  They were worth $12 a piece.  When the Commish reads this it will be House's first and last Pot Game of the Year..

Low scores were Brad-Brian 77, Birdie 82, Billy D 82 and (White Tee Slut) House 82.

Greeting From One Who Was Once Beloved
A few Pot Gamers have already announced they will be there to tee it up. Birdie, Billy D, Skrocki, Bear and Tractorman.

A few others are NOT expected to be there.  Mad Dog has to deliver all the membership payment checks and cash to the "Big House" every hour all day long.  Mini because Daddys not playing. Deacon on IR but may make a non playing appearance. Commish because its not 50 degrees at 8:30am. The Village people are not home yet, although Cheez did send along a picture letting us know what he thinks of us finally getting to play golf.

Be prepared to pay $10 for the Hole-In-One Pool for 2013.  There is a $600 holdover from second half of 2011 & 2012. Bear will be collecting before teeing off.
